I’m in yer Austin, ridin’ yer trails!

I’m in Austin, TX on business. I’ve been here since Wednesday night. Thursday was all work. By the time I got back to the hotel, it was time for a online meeting of the BSD Certification group. By the time that was over, it was too late to get to Home Depot. I needed something to cut the cable ties used to pack up the bike.

Friday morning was bike assembly. Then I hit Walnut Creek Trail. This would be my first MTB ride since the stitches and I’d be riding alone on new trails, I picked the closest and easiest trails. I spent about two hours in there.

Immediately after the riding, it was Starbucks, for a cold drink. Then it was food. At Rudy’s. That was a great lunch!

That night, I saw Resident Evil: Extinction. I’ve not seen any of these movies before. I liked it. I’ll be seeing the next one when it comes out.

Today, Saturday, I met up with about 10 other riders and did the Barton Creek Greenbelt. We went in at the 360 entrance. I think we started about 9:15 am, and got back at about 1:15 pm. 4 hours. It didn’t seem that long. We did about 12 miles in that time. We did some swimming…

I have scapes on my right shin and forearm. I was standing when this happened. I slipped on some wet slippery rocks, about half a mile from the trail head, while heading back home. Bummer. I’ve finished icing the leg, and the arm is on ice as I type this.

Tonight I think I’ll head out and see Eastern Promises. It’s a movie I’ve been looking forward to after all the trailers.

Tomorrow (Sunday), I hope to do a short ride (60-90 minutes) around Walnut Creek again. It will be much busier than it was on Friday afternoon. Lots of dogs I’m told. I’ll just take it easy. Then I’ll head back to the hotel and pack up the bike. My flight is at 3:20 pm. Perhaps I can get an earlier flight. I’ll see. I don’t get in until 10:30 pm. That’s 6 hours of travel… with 2.5 hours on the ground in Houston. (ugh)

Shame I don’t have any particular coding problem to solve. That would soak up that time very quickly.
