Sorry in advance if I’m asking about things you already said.
I didn’t catch what graphics card are you going to use. And what OS are you planning to install? Just curious
btw, I have the same motherboard, and a phenom II X4 revision C2 too, but the slower 905e. And I’m running ubuntu.

The system will be running FreeBSD 8.x with ZFS as the filesystem.
For video, nothing special. Something cheap that I can find in my box of old cards. The console will be used in text mode only.

Great. Remember it can be cheap, but PCI or PCI-Express, not AGP. I didn’t, when I’ve assembled mine. Then I bought a SAPPHIRE VAPOR-X HD4890 1GB DDR5 PCIE (made it also my gaming machine)
Another thing that may or may not help. I have configured the bios to use AHCI (not RAID). I am using software RAID (mdadm) with ubuntu, and I have a dual boot with a WinXP for the games. Just to point out also that:
* On the bios, you may choose RAID or IDE or AHCI for your internal disks (I saw you bought a RAID card).
* I was able to install XP with the ‘S’ key and the driver from asus for AHCI
* You have 5 sata internal ports and a eSATA back port on that board.
Enjoy.
