This is the host I’ve been talking about.
Adding this entry to /boot/loader.conf will turn off MFI and enable MRSAS instead.
hw.mfi.mrsas_enable="1"
Then you’ll see expected device names for drives, such as da0 instead of mfisyspd0. This will be done later.
The HBA installed in this host is supported by the FreeBSD mrsas driver. The host has the Invader/Fury 12Gb/s MR controller installed.
There will be more drives. These aren’t necessarily the drives to be used.
This host, when idle with 8 SAS and 2 SATA drives, consumes about 230 watts.

Interesting/annoying dmesg output
What is also interesting is this driver isn’t showing me the drive size of the 1920GB Intel SSD when it’s inserted into the drive tray.
For search, that text in the photo above appears below.

with mrsas driver
I used mfsBSD to install FreeBSD 13.1 into one of the spare Dell SSDs I had. The HBA configuration needed to be modified to say: boot from this drive. Once booted, I added this to /boot/loader.conf and did a shutdown -r now.
OK set hw.mfi.mrsas_enable="1" OK boot
When booting finished, this was the dmesg output I obtained:
