Another pair of SATADOM devices

Now that r730-01 is booting from SATADOM devices (which are directly attached to the M/B, thereby freeing up drives bays / PCIe slots for larger devices), I thought it wise to buy a second pair. For two reasons:

  1. The price of used devices was pretty good
  2. It’s good to have spares nearby

In this post:

  • FreeBSD 14.3
  • smartmontools-7.5

SATA Phy Event Counters (GP Log 0x11) not supported

My notes

The power on hours are 6209 and 3 respectively. In a previous post, the first pair of SATADOMS had similar hours: They were 6511 and 2.

I suspect these devices were from the same batch of hosts.

With 296344 LBA written, with a sector size of 512 bytes, that’s 152 MB written. That’s nothing. I reckon these are good value for what I’ve paid (about US$84).
