smartctl output TOSHIBA MD04ACA500 653AK2MXFS9A

It is time to replace /dev/da17 in knew.

The replacement drive is also documented.

The replacement procedure has also been documented.

An upcoming blog post will document the replacement.

I’m seeing these messages:

Dec 12 09:23:03 knew smartd[2124]: Device: /dev/da17 [SAT], 40 Currently unreadable (pending) sectors

This is the smartctl output. Of note:

  1. 12448 reallocated sector count – If we look back 3 years ago, this value was 8. If I look at the other 24 drives in this system, most are 0, one is 8, another is 768, and yet another is 17760. That last one is also in the same vdev as the drive I am replacing.
  2. 43747 power on hours – 1822 days or just under 5 years. It has had a good run.
  3. Error 393 occurred at disk power-on lifetime: 43653 hours – or just 4 days ago.
